Dr Keith Ruddle

Dr Keith Ruddle is an Associate Fellow at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford and an Emeritus Fellow of Green Templeton College. Keith teaches, advises and works with top management teams from private and public sector organisations on the leadership of strategic and organisation change. Keith has taught on many of Oxford University’s Executive Education and top Leadership programmes and his research interests are in the leadership of large scale and complex change, and public service reform.

He has worked as an advisor and facilitator with top teams across private and public sector. In the Public Sector in 2000, he seconded for six months to the Strategy Unit within the UK Cabinet Office for a study on Public Sector Leadership. From 2000 to 2013 he has worked with senior teams in UK Government including Department of the Environment, the Cabinet Office, and Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (where he was on the Chairman’s External Advisory Group). He chaired the Prime Minister’s conference on Public Service Reform in 2006. From 2005 – 2013 he has worked with the Department of Health and the NHS Management Boards on Board and ministerial workshops, the Darzi Review, the NHS Constitution national advisory group, preparation for change of government in 2010 and recently on the new Commissioning Board and DH arrangements. More locally he has worked directly with a number of Trust Boards, including Hampshire Hospitals, Great Western, and Oxford University Hospitals Trust. At Oxford he also chaired the working group preparing the 2010 Academic Health Science Centre bid. He is on the Strategy Group of the Health Experiences Institute at Green Templeton College and a lay member of the Oxfordshire Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee

Before coming to Oxford in 1994 Keith spent 19 years with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), latterly in a number of partnership roles, including the management of the firm’s strategic management consulting in Europe and membership of the UK Operating Board. Keith has an MA in Engineering and Management Sciences from Cambridge University, an MBA from Harvard Business School and a DPhil in Management Studies from Oxford University. Local interests include being Chair of the Chipping Norton Theatre Trust and joint editor of a local newspaper. He has also been very active in the local community leading in 2003 a Town Appraisal and future vision for Chipping Norton and chairing the initial stakeholder group in 2004 with Councillors, PCT and County Council to develop options to replace the aging community hospital and council care home.  If you would like to email Dr. Ruddle regarding his research, please click here.
