Dr Sukhmeet Panesar

Visiting Research Fellow

Sukhmeet Panesar is a clinician with expertise in conceptualising, managing and evaluating large-scale, global health projects through the use of virtual and local teams in the areas of primary care, surgery and public health. He has health policy expertise in the areas of patient safety, risk management and quality improvement. He has led on several projects involving evidence synthesis and has developed novel methodologies in health services research. During this attachment, he will be working closely with Sian Rees Director University of Oxford Health Experiences Institute, Department of Primary Care Health Sciences) and Charles Vincent (Professor of Psychology, Department of Experimental Psychology, University of Oxford). The work will build on the global initiative around Safer Primary Care led by the World Health Organization (http://www.who.int/patientsafety/safer_primary_care/en/) Together with colleagues, we will attempt to develop a better understanding of safety in primary care through theoretical frameworks and reflect critically on the gaps and unmet needs in this area of research.
